Storyline:
Bajirao Mastani, a 2015 Indian Hindi-language epic romantic film in historical romance, was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He also co-produced the film with Eros International and produced its soundtrack. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone star in the film, with Tanvi Azmi and Vaibhav Tatwawaadi and Milind Soman, Mahesh Menjrekar, Aditya Pancholi playing supporting roles. Bhansali first announced the film in 2003, but it was delayed multiple times by changing cast members. Bajirao Mastani was a passion project of Bhansali and spent the next 11-12 years in development hell. It was finally revived in 2014. Before moving into preproduction, extensive research was conducted. This required the creation and maintenance of 22 sets and many costumes and props to enhance its production value and enhance its opulence. Film City was used for principal photography. Some scenes were filmed on location. Post-production was used to enhance several scenes with visual effects and CGI.
The film was released 18 December 2015. It was highly praised for Bhansali’s direction, technical accomplishments, and the performances by the cast. Bajirao Mastani’s scale, grandeur, and attention to detail have also been noted. Bajirao Makstani was awarded 7 National Film Awards, including Best Director (Bhansali), and Best Supporting Actress(Azmi). At the 61st Filmfare Awards, it received 14 nominations, including Best Actress and Best Supporting Artist (Azmi). It also won 9 awards, including Best Film and Best Director (Bhansali), best actor (Singh), and best supporting actress (Chopra). At the Zee Cine Awards Singh was awarded Best Actor-Male (Critics), while Padukone was awarded Best Actor-Female. It was the 29th highest-grossing Indian film.
