Storyline:
Karnan is a 2021 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed and produced by Mari Selvaraj. Dhanush, Lal, Yogi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam, and Rajisha Vijayan star in the film (in her Tamil debut). Music was composed by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography was handled by Theni Eswar, and editing was handled by Selva R. K. The film, loosely based on the 1995 Kodiyankulam caste violence, stars the eponymous character Karnan, who comes from a strict family and fights for his people’s rights.
After a brief pre-production period, the picture was released in January 2020 under the title Karnan. The majority of the film takes place in the rural district of Thoothukudi. Following its release, the film was shot and completed in December 2020; however, filming was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
